La Jolla California is located in San Diego County, within the San Diego City limits, along Interstate 5. The Pacific Ocean to the west, Interstate Highway 5 to the east, the community of Pacific Beach to the south, and the City of Del Mar to the north border La Jolla. It is among the most prestigious neighborhoods in southern California, not only because of its prime location offering unparalleled views of the ocean, but due to its abundance of community, cultural and recreational activities, and its numerous parks, beaches, restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries and boutiques. From a beachfront condo to some of the most spectacular real estate in the nation, La Jolla has it all. Some say the name La Jolla comes from the Spanish word “la joya” meaning “jewel.” No one will argue that La Jolla is indeed a jewel in the crown of the San Diego area. Aside from the obvious breathtaking scenery, La Jolla offers prestigious private and public schools, recreational opportunities, and a culturally diverse and educated population. Championship golf courses, museums, sea life aquariums and amusement parks are just minutes away. With such a mild climate, most homes in La Jolla are designed with indoor/outdoor activities in mind, and the city’s roads were all built to take advantage of the town’s most breathtaking views. La Jolla reminds one of a southern European resort community with its white stucco buildings perched on hillsides, red tile roofs, Mediterranean-type climate and historic inns and mission. Although one of the most affluent communities in the United States, it retains a down to earth, laid back atmosphere due in part to the beautiful natural surroundings. The July 2002 issue of the Robb Report had this to say about La Jolla: "While acknowledging that every heart beats differently, we also selected one town possessing so many aesthetic and social attributes that anyone would be happy calling it home, or calling it home to one of his or her residences. We designate that town, La Jolla, CA, as simply the best place in America to live."

The housing opportunities in North San Diego County are vast and varied – ranging between affordable properties such as condominiums and townhouse to multi-million dollar, elegant oceanfront estates – and everything in between. Other communities of the North San Diego County area include:

Cardiff-by-the-Sea
Founded in 1911, Cardiff-by-the-Sea is a shoreline community with 2.6 miles of Pacific coastline and world-class surf that draws professional and amateur surfers from all over the world.

Carlsbad
Known as "The Village by the Sea," Carlsbad has the charm of a European village, unique shops, including sidewalk cafes, great restaurants and romantic hotels.

Oceanside
Oceanside has the longest over-water pier in Southern California, and a wide variety of cultural and recreational facilities. Water sports are very popular here, especially surfing, sailing and fishing.

Rancho Santa Fe
At the center of Rancho Santa Fe is an historic village where a casual stroll reveals quaint courtyards, unique specialty shops and restaurants.
